First of all I'm from the south, and everybody has some real good points.

1. As far as Wayne goes he's hot and getting a lot of pub now, but there are plenty of Mc's that will eat him.

2. Hip Hop is just in a different place right now, and mixtapes and live shows is the only way that you will get what you really want out of it. If you're checking for it on the radio, you won't get it.

3. I'm tired of hearing people saying Jay fell off. No, Jay is wearing a $5000 tailored suit and continuing to grow the most historic label in hip hop history. He's still making hip hop music, it's just a little more mature.

4. Wayne is not ready for JAY-Z.

5. The south does has artist that spit meaningful lyrics: Scarface, Andre 3000, Killer Mike.

6. The great thing about Hip Hop is that we are all so posessive about it, and believe it or not, that what will force the culture to continue to evolve. In a year or so, some artist will be wondering why they can't come up with a wack ass dance, call it a song and get radio play. Personally, I hope that at this time all of these fake ass thugs will be doing the same thing. If you real, by all means be creative and let us hear your story, but if not, be creative and do you.

Nah, its not that the South is "getting away" with spittin nonsense. Its just a different culture and vibe in the South than in other regions. Yeah in the South, the beat does matter. Perfect example, in NY you either walk or take the train. And while doing this you wear headphones. With headphones your focus is going to be on lyrics because you cant really get the full effect of the beat. Thats why NY beats are so different from a Southern beat. Not better, just different.

Now in the South, niggaz dont walk. lol. So we hop in our whips to get where were going. Thats why niggaz put speakers in their cars, rims etc. Because alot of your time is spent in a car. So if your riding with 3 fifteens in the trunk, you want a beat thats going to knock. Now with that, lyrics are sacrificed a little, I agree. But thats the culture. Its not that niggaz are slow or whatever, its just the way it is.

Now dont get it twisted. Im not defending this new genearation of Southern artist. The snap. crunk, crunk and b shit whatever. That shit is garbage and its not hip hop. I grew up on the Dungeon Family, Goodie Mob, OutKast (when they were spittin) etc. Back when artist really said something. So I look at these new cats as a disgrace to the South. Its a shame that the real lyricist never really got their shine. And with Corporate America running hip hop into the ground I dont think they ever will.

because it appears that only southern rappers can really get away with not being lyricists.

If you think about it.....You can't be from any other region, spit sh!t that doesn't make any sense only rhymes and get away with it. It seems the south will settle for a bumpin beat and a cool cadence.

and I like a bunch of other rappers that aren't that conscious...I think The Game is a beast on mic and mr. shoot em up Cassidy is far from conscious.

bkstylz

I cant even argue with that list bruh. Those are some dope MC's. Common has always been one of my favorite rappers. Lupe had the best album of the year in my opinion. But, the majority of those MC's you listed are concious rappers. Now if you want to get that technical then yeah, Wayne isnt on that level because he's not a concious rapper. But when it comes to straight spittin, dude has it.

You say sounding cool but not saying nothing will only get you so far,(in the South) lol. Once again, it appears to be a Southern issue. If region didn't matter, why put that at the end of your post?

what makes them better??........lyrics & flow.

I do like Big Boi & stat quo...but stat is still unproven.

It isn't about where you are from it is about skill.

Phonte (of little brother) is one of the coldest rappers out (imo) and he is from North Carolina....Ehlzi (from Slum Village) is off the hook and he is from Detroit. Royce 5'9, Bishop Lamont, Cassidy, Lupe Fiasco, Common......these are rappers bringing heat and not from NY...

so back up and don't get so sensitive when Wayne gets called out for not really being a good lyricist....sounding cool but not saying shit will only get you so far (the south)....

Nigga what the fuck are u smokin? Thats just hate right there. What makes your precious NY MC's that much better than:

Lil Wayne
Andre 3000
Killer MIke
Big Boi
Bun B
Chamillionaire
Stat Quo

Is it beacuase these MC's arent from your particular region? Is that it? Because if you ask me, anyone of these artist will eat any NY MC on the Mic.

@ bkstylz

You dont even like Papoose but he will eat Wayne alive? That makes no sense at all. New Yorkers are so biased it's sickening.

@ quE

Its pointless arguing with these people. In their eyes no one is better than a "New York MC." They just suffer from Tunnel Vision up there. Your right though, if Lil Wayne was from NY then this wouldnt even be an issue.
