The Brothers without Wonder: Little Brother & 9th Part Ways?

Man reading the news was like a bad dream. But all good things come to a end I guess. Big Pooh was quoted in an interview saying 9th Wonder and Little Brother have split ways. Best part is… that it’s not over beef but just people growing apart as in most cases, going different directions. Well that still leaves the door open for a reunion jump-off. It explains why rumors circulated that 9th only produced one song off the new LB album “Get Back”.

“Little Brother has decided, in the best interest of the group, for Little
Brother and 9th Wonder to part ways. There are no hard feelings and no
beef. This is just a decision that had to be made so all three of us
could move forward and continue to provide the world with dope music”

- Big Pooh (Hiphopgame.com Interview)

It’s still fucked up though. And it’s definitely going to be weird not associating 9th with LB, yet it is what it is. They are still one of the dopest groups in Hip-Hop ever. I personally always thought of them as an nowadays version of De La Soul in the sense of how it’s two MC’s and the producer/DJ in the group. While I clearly see the difference in their greatness. To bad they had to separate, LB was robbed our their 5-Mic’s on “The Minstrel Show” due to Benzino being a bitch. Any way it is what it is. So pour out a little something and pop in “The Listening”. By the way Big Pooh did say that they are giving away free the new mixtape “Justus For All” do to the beef Hip-Hop’s been having with The RIAA.

So the fellowship of the Bro’s is now down to two. Only time will tell what the out come will be. But I got a feeling the guys will be doing just fine. All I ask is just one more album with them all together. Maybe will get it someday again when the mood is right , until then still got the collection to fall back on. Even though 9th and LB our separate, their still equally dope.

Should Of Been 5 Mic’s!!!

Man that’s crazy, The Minstrel Show was dope from top to bottom, but I can see why they’d grow apart just from hearin Phonte talk about how he wants to break into the mainstream and 9th Wonder’s beats dont really cater to that sound, still they’re dope all the same.I think they’ll be fine but I think the absence is gonna be pretty obvious.

Major loss for hip-hop as a community… Phonte’ is one of the livest MC’s spitting right now and 9th is equally as a dope producer… Pooh is super overated… In order for the trio to seperate and do solo projects I really feel they needed to find a certain level of success within the group format… its a shame we will never see that mature as a trio… I do however feel Phonte’ will be huge… he’s super talented… lastly “Minstrel” was indeed a classic!!!

Yep, it’s a new era. At least they still are friends. This means the door will always be open for a 9th Wonder track. If they’re cool, we(fans) should be cool.

I’m later than late but I just found out. I can’t believe it. I just can’t believe it. I have so much love for Little Brother and I feel like a big reason for their appeal is their cohesiveness. Ninth’s beat are blazing but be real everybody can’t spit over them. Phonte is lyrically outstanding but he doesn’t speak to everybody. Big Pooh can reach more people but his message miss its mark. But together, as a whole, their weaknesses are barely noticeable. I’m still going to wish them the best and support them but I can’t help but be greatly disheartened by this.

First Tribe called Quest, now this….

Ah, man- this is BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Little Brother is the best group I have heard in years. Phonte and Big Pooh spit the realest shit that muthaf**** need to be absorbing. Both of them cats talk about REAL SHIT, real issues, shit that a cat trying to come up in this game can appreciate. And 9TH? Man, 9th is the coldest producer I have heard in years. Me, being up and coming producer from Cleveland(by the way, aint no love or support in Cleveland for music cats), 9th’s arrangement on samples, drums, etc helped me make better tracks over the last 16 months. 9th, man, I would love to see ya’ll cats get back together, cause the SHIT HOP that is out here now fuckin’ irritates me. LITTLE BROTHER IS NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
