Lately I’ve been trying to keep myself from looking at my journey in this thing called Hip-Hop as a possible waste of time. Since day one my main goal aside from trying to be a great emcee was to keep my music 100 % real. Pardon me if I sound jaded but now I feel like being the realest person in Hip-Hop, the second fakest game (second only to the movie industry) isn’t worth too much. I remember when being real meant being real. I could remember being a kid and hearing songs like “I wish I was a little bit taller” & “She keeps on passing me by” and thinking to myself “that’s real”. Don’t get me wrong I thought songs like “Juicy” and “One love” were equally real but just in another light. In today’s Hip-Hop that kinda real is very limited or just flat out does not exist anymore. When did keeping it real turn into selling drugs and killing somebody every bar? What happened to the other side of real? And when I say that I don’t mean it in the sense of conscience and backpack type of Hip-Hop I mean the regular dude real. I don’t know about where you from but where I’m from there’s a selective few who are on the street doing dirt (Sidebar: for a very small percent of my life I was included in this selected few) the majority of people where I’m from are pretty much blue collar workers trying to pay there bills. Why is this so rarely expressed in Hip-Hop? And when it is expressed why is it so often ignored?
You would think with so much people living this type of lifestyle this would be at lease kind of in demand, but its not. How did something so real become something so fake?
If we continue to ask why Hip-Hop is in the state that its in I think we should ask these questions along with it. With that off my chess I just want people to know that my album is done being mixed and is all ready for that April 29th launch so stay tuned. Being a rapper isn’t a very secure career choice. So this makes you have to keep up with the trends and get ya money so you could survive. I mean, think about it. Why would a rapper want to rap “real” and get a “paycut” when they could just rap “fake” and get a “raise”? Fake rapping = record sales and criticism, but criticism is a small price to pay when you making that much money. Nobody likes it this way but that’s what seems to be the qualifictions to be a rap artist today. So being real wins over the fans nowadays, but it doesn’t seem to make them go out and buy your album…SO technically, it’s smarter to cater to the dumber audiences because they’re the ones that actually buy your albums…
why is rap so fake these days ? easy..just like in the news, all you hear about is violence, same w.music. violence appeals to people. its a form of entertainment
everybody loves controversy and the now of day image fad–
Nigga they just don’t stand a: Common, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and etc. atleast we thought , but trust the game is changing at the end of the day just BE YOURSELF; and you Spec me knowing you on a personal level you ain’t no different from your rapps, thats you my nigga.
Till den, hold your head (No Homo)
the game been fake, and will continue to be fake.. The best thing to do is focus on what you doing and don’t stress the bull shit

Real hip hop is hard to find nowadays. And most emcees who spit real lyrics that are talented have trouble crossing over into the mainstream without changing their style. Take Tom Gist for example. This dude is on the verge of making it big. He is fucking with cam and dipset but without say “selling out” i dont know how far he will go. If you get a chance to check him out DO. This guy is the truth, he is about as real as it gets!!
