Real hip hop is hard to find nowadays. And most emcees who spit real lyrics that are talented have trouble crossing over into the mainstream without changing their style. Take Tom Gist for example. This dude is on the verge of making it big. He is fucking with cam and dipset but without say "selling out" i dont know how far he will go. If you get a chance to check him out DO. This guy is the truth, he is about as real as it gets!!

Being a rapper isn't a very secure career choice. So this makes you have to keep up with the trends and get ya money so you could survive. I mean, think about it. Why would a rapper want to rap "real" and get a "paycut" when they could just rap "fake" and get a "raise"? Fake rapping = record sales and criticism, but criticism is a small price to pay when you making that much money. Nobody likes it this way but that's what seems to be the qualifictions to be a rap artist today. So being real wins over the fans nowadays, but it doesn't seem to make them go out and buy your album...SO technically, it's smarter to cater to the dumber audiences because they're the ones that actually buy your albums...
