For what its worth

It took a lot of work to get this point, but I’m here about a week before my debut album drops on itunes. I use to think that by this point everything would be easy but now I see that even the people on the very top of the game don’t have it easy, In fact if I ever do make it to the top I may look back on this as easy in comparison.
So I take all the bullshit in sride because all the people I look up to as legends went through there own version of what I’m going through now. I’m just hoping that one day I could look back at all these shows with wack sound systems, all these so call “Real” people in the industry that won’t show love until you have a buzz no matter how good you are, and all this fake shit in general and say it was worth dealing with to get here. Till then I’ll be here Grinding

I’m 80% convinced that the best way to understand what I’m trying to do with my music is to listen to my body of work as a whole. That may be my downfall because I’m still fairly unknown and every impression counts. Its amazing to me how everyone feels that Hip-Hop lacks versatile emcees but when someone actually attempts to bring something different to the table it goes on deaf ears, Don’t think I’m using my own music as the selling point for this argument, theres a whole bunch of artist new and old that I feel are not getting there proper respect. I personally feel lyrics are suppose to go over your head somewhat, so it makes you want to rewind it back until you fully understand. Don’t get me wrong It shouldn’t be as hard to understand as Shakespeare but on the other hand It shouldn’t be as easy to understand as Dr. Seuss. When I make music I try to keep it interesting for the listener even when I’m intentionally going over there heads by way of the delivery or just by the soundtrack behind it. Somebody once told me that either may be the reason I’m looked at as a great emcee one day or the reason why I will not be. I can’t call it, I guess we’ll find that out after May 13th, 2008 (the day For What Its Worth drops on Itunes)
My new mixtape Net Worth will be available for free download sometime in the next couple of days so be on the look out

Worth a Thousand Words

First and foremost I want to shout out my homie Kev G who read my first blog talking bout people confusing me with dude from Pretty Ricky and said I came off a little bitter. With that being said I like to present to you my latest myspace message from a 14 year old girl from Alabama (No NBC Dateline To Catch A Predator)

Lately I’ve been trying to keep myself from looking at my journey in this thing called Hip-Hop as a possible waste of time. Since day one my main goal aside from trying to be a great emcee was to keep my music 100 % real. Pardon me if I sound jaded but now I feel like being the realest person in Hip-Hop, the second fakest game (second only to the movie industry) isn’t worth too much. I remember when being real meant being real. I could remember being a kid and hearing songs like “I wish I was a little bit taller” & “She keeps on passing me by” and thinking to myself “that’s real”. Don’t get me wrong I thought songs like “Juicy” and “One love” were equally real but just in another light. In today’s Hip-Hop that kinda real is very limited or just flat out does not exist anymore. When did keeping it real turn into selling drugs and killing somebody every bar? What happened to the other side of real? And when I say that I don’t mean it in the sense of conscience and backpack type of Hip-Hop I mean the regular dude real. I don’t know about where you from but where I’m from there’s a selective few who are on the street doing dirt (Sidebar: for a very small percent of my life I was included in this selected few) the majority of people where I’m from are pretty much blue collar workers trying to pay there bills. Why is this so rarely expressed in Hip-Hop? And when it is expressed why is it so often ignored?

Happy belated leap day Nobodysmiling community I hope you enjoyed leaping or whatever the hell you suppose to do on leap day. If you don’t already know I go by the name Spectacula, and I’m a up and coming emcee from Queens New York City. Now that the brief introduction is out of the way let me go right into it. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MYSPACE? (Note the caps, this indicates frustration) I remember like this time last year I could go on myspace and leave a bulletin about having a cold or some shit and I would get like 500 messages of people giving me home remedies. Now I could put a bulletin up every minute for 48 hours and won’t get a response. I wouldn’t mind not getting a response if I was discussing having a cold but I’m trying to get people to listen to my mixtape, which is called Paid In Full hosted by DJ Noodles by the way (Cheap plug I know) and it’s got me feeling like Ghostface did a few weeks back. The Spam shit really ruined myspace. I remember like in 2006 reading something about myspace changing the world, and how it was pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. How could some comments about penis enlargement pills ruin the best thing since sliced bread? Guess those claims were premature (no pun intended). To the average person myspace in it’s height of “Greatness” was just a glorified black planet but to the unsigned artist such as myself myspace was like a glimpse of hope, letting you know that what your doing wasn’t a complete waste of time. Now not so much. And I know myspace is still somewhat popular but it will never be the same. With that being said Myspace or not the Mixtape is still a go. I put a lot into this mixtape lyrically so please check it out and let me know what you think. You could download it here
