Is Superhead a Super-Hoax???

Karrine SteffansVideo hoe, groupie chick, home-wrecker, chickenhead—call her what you want, but don’t call her broke! The media-savvy Karrine Steffans aka “Superhead” has been blowing up the airwaves, and heating up internet chat rooms all over the country. Why you might ask? It’s simple: we all love to hear scandalous stories of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll (or in this case hip-hop). And who better to tell these stories than a professional groupie so raw she makes Lil’ Kim and Heidi Fleiss blush! In her tell-all book: Confessions of a Video Vixen this video veteran chronicles her exploits with everyone from Jay-Z, DMX and Usher, to P. Diddy and Shaquille O’Neal—all your favorites!

Things were not always this way for Ms. Steffans. As a young girl, Steffans grew up in the USVI’s St. Thomas where she excelled in academia and the arts; winning several awards and accolades. At the tender age of 15, Steffans moved from her grandmother’s household on the island, and reunited with her father in Arizona.

By the time she was 17 she moved to LA, married rap legend Kool G Rap, and two years later had his son. She broke free from this allegedly abusive relationship (complete with domestic violence, rape and mental abuse). Subsequently Steffans (under the guidance of Ice-T) had a career-changing run-in with super director F. Gary Gray ( Friday, Set it Off, Be Cool ) on the famed Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. She later starred in his film, A Man Apart opposite Vin Diesel.

She would later be known as an ex-stripper turned actress/video vixen starring in such videos as Ja Rule’s, Between Me & You and Jay z’s, Hey Papi .

With E. Lynn Harris penning her controversial encounters, Steffans recounts her lavish life as a video hoe in her book. Not only did she sleep with some of the most famous and sought-after men in hip hop, she shopped at the best stores, went to the best parties, and spent plenty of celebrity money. Steffans even recounts how after one night with Shaq he deposited a whopping $10,000 a month for four months into her checking account.

She goes on to name countless other stars in music and television. She claims that Vin Diesel had an envious d#$*, how it ‘felt like a privilege’ to hold Fred Durst, Irv Gotti’s insecurities in the bedroom, and P. Diddy’s fifteen minutes of love-making was a total let-down. If you thought that was juicy you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Karrine SteffansSteffans has been touring the east coast promoting this book, and in the process has created even more of a media frenzy than the book itself! Last week she was in New York and had two infamous interviews on hot 97.1 with Miss Jones, and power 105.1 with Star and Bucwild. With her ousting of the numerous scandals she was involved in, she must have anticipated that there would be some opposition. Unfortunately for Steffans, New York did not disappoint. In addition to her romps in various bedrooms and limos with the stars, Steffans also claimed to have an illegitimate daughter with Method Man, and a sexual encounter with Big Tigger (that revealed he might have homosexual tendencies). She even claimed that ex-husband Kool G Rap forced her to give him oral sex for over two hours—nearly choking her to death (she doesn’t own the title Superhead for nothing!). All this and more came out when Steffans had her interviews in New York.

To spice things up during the interview, Miss Jones had Kool G and his wife Ma Barker call in and give their story. Kool G totally dismissed all claims by Steffans inferring that she is a money-grubbing media whore. His wife however stayed on the offensive--seemingly more mad at Steffans than her own husband was. Barker produced a taped phone call with Steffans that put a lot of the content in her book under question. A very heated Method Man also called in to clear his name and dismiss all allegations against him. At power 105 things got really heated between Star and Steffans, nearly resulting in an altercation. Star claimed that Steffans was raping the hip hop community for profit and its safe to say that Steffans did not agree with that angle.

From her standpoint, this book had to be written to show young women in the industry that they cannot put all their trust in men, and when she was strung out on drugs and homeless, none of these so called “friends” of hers came to her aid. According to her opposition she is merely a c-list celebrity trying to come up in the business and get some shine no matter who she has to ruin to do so. At the end of the day, in all her encounters, she was a willing participant so she doesn’t have much to whine about. After all, we all have problems—right?

Furthermore, Karrine Steffans is the last person who needs a pity party. This woman is on the move and is currently in talks for a reality show with Edmonds Entertainment. She is the first and only columnist for King Magazine, and she’s even founded a line of lingerie—all in addition to this soon-to-be bestselling book. So for all you Superhead sympathizers out there don’t worry. She’ll be alright... So is Confessions of a Video Vixen much more than a publicity stunt to boost Superhead’s popularity? Or is it a heart-felt tale of a young girl lost who’s finally found her way? You be the judge.

I read the book and girlfriend was straight and to the point. I am glad she put those chumps out on front street. Karrine is only keeping it real. So many young girls out here in the ghetto are being taken advantage of by these older guys and now that the shoe on the other foot she is so wrong. These men are just upset that were caught in vulnerable situations and confided in a woman they didn't know just because she gave them good "head". If these men in the industry have such a reputation to uphold they should think twice about meeting woman on tour, in night clubs, sleeping with them, and then remembering they have wives at home!

I can definately get with what miss "superhead" is doing. I mean who wouldnt put these people out there. I would have done the same thing. But why get mad at her? it takes two! some of these stars were married like ja rule and shaq. What if she came out today and said she was diagnosed with aids? and those black stars all was infected. Given a death sentance. The fact is, she is a hoe; its also a fact that the stars shouldn't have lowered themselves to the level of a prostitute. Although she hasn't came out proclaiming she has the aids virus; but to a people with a already damaged persona, or public relations handicap, such all incompassing allegations is interpreted as nothing short of character assassination to the collective consciousness of those outside the hip-hop community, for a profit. Public relations is something well understood by the statis quo, persona is everything! maintain the perception of superiority at all costs; when will black people learn this? you can always get another black to pull another down, and remind them of their weaknesses; and then let the world know it.

I think that all in all we all make some bad choices in life some we choose to talk about other we tend to keep to ourself. No one is an angel and i didn't gather from reading the book that she was glorifying her sexual relations. We have women out here who just so happen to trip and fall on a famous man's penis and become pregnant. Then upon denial of paternity try and take them to court for money. I would think that she came out and stated what was already obvious but without the names and places. There are plenty of women in power positions or well known actresses that have had sex with people to get to the top. As far as whom fathered her children, that is something for the courts to decide. If any of the men accused where not guilty of any this, where's the lawsuits that generally follow false claims. There is none. I applaud her for getting more than a wet ass. There's too many of us that do it today with nothing to show for it but children with no daddy. At least she is still there for her child and not running any longer. Karrine alledges that she had a rough childhood. I know firsthand that having no paternal upbringing can result in low self esteem and taking what little any men is willing to supply. All and all i wish more women had the guts that it took to shed light on the problem that many young innocent don't understand. I am wondering if any of you actually read this book. If you had you would know that it was poorly written, jumps all over the place and is an obvious attention getting manuver for karrine. It made me sick to think that she would say some of the things that she did, not because i don't believe any of it happened, but i know some of it must have been embellished, and either way, what is in her closet should be left there. She should be out-ed from the hip-hop community and hollywood---let her go back to her pathetic life on st. Thomas. She doesn't deserve any love around here.

I read the book in one day, after i finished i could only think about how misguided she was and how misguided she had been all her life. I feel the pain in her words, how much she desired love no matter where she got it from. How naive she was and still may be. All of her actions were a result of her childhood,things she carried until adulthood. When things are not handled properly this is what happens. I don't understand why everybody is so heated over "her" truth. Why would she take such a chance with her life , name& place dropping if there was'nt any truth to these things? it's o.k when these stars rhyme about women in an unfavorable way but it's a crime when they get a taste of their own medicine. She put everything on the line here no matter what her motive. I hope a few people learn a lesson from her. These men should've been thinking about their wives&families before sampling "superhead". Besides she could'nt wreck any homes without their permission. If they did'nt want this type of negative publicity they should'nt have been passing her around so freely thinking she would never realize she was the butt of the joke. If this were a man telling all it would'nt be such a issue. I hope a few of these stars learn something from this. We need to stop treating each other like s@#%. When we do that it makes it that much easier for others to treat us that way.

I remember hearing about her a couple of years ago, and about the book she was going to write. A couple of weeks ago i finally got my copy, and like every other person, i read it all in one night. I felt so much pain for her in the beginning. I even cried a little, because i could never imagine my mother feeling that way about me, looking at me the way her mother looked at her, and not caring rather she lived or died. That's some crazy sh*t to have to grow up with. Then she moved with her father who scrambled her brain even more. Then she gets married to an abusive a*s negro, who can't get back if he was pushed. I too was in an abusive relationship, and being in a situation like that only makes you think so much lesser of yourself than the person that's doing the damage to you. Karrine was looking for a way out, a way to be excepted and independent all at the same time. And the very people that we look up to, are the ones who made her life a living hell more than what she experienced as a child. I'm have my own recording label, and have goals to one day be the first black woman, to own a major record label, and there are just some people that i no longer have respect for. I appreciate her, for giving a window for us to look into, that show's what these artist, who look like angels on television are really about. And she's not the only one, for everyone hating on her. I heard about ms. Steffans from other people, and i never really cared for what she was about until i read this. At first i was downin her, but after reading this, i have to give her respect...because she is real about her life. There are many females out there that do the same thing but keep their business on the hush, and that is okay....it is not okay when they want to judge. She knows what she has done and is not a shame to let it be known to everyone else. It was her decision to put the truth out there...these brothas in the industry do things like this all of the time. Okay yall is really trippin those of you who have the nerve to say that superhead is a victim are pretty stupid. Yea she had a trying childhood and her mom wasnt bout much n neither was her husband yea she went through alot but that sh*t doesnt have to determine who you are. I for one totally don't understand her purpose for writing the book, or for sleeping with the entire hip-hop industry. I had a rough childhood. Mom didn't work, dad wasn't there etc., etc., but i would never want anyone to feel sorry for me. Right now i'm 20 years old with a one year old and a dead beat baby's father who i lived with for one year and was raped and abused by, but i'm not spinning on poles, shaking my ass, or sleeping around, and i've never thought of drinking or doing drugs. In fact,i (i've only been with two people in my life) am a licensed insurance producer, i graduated h. S w/a 4.0 grade point average. I by no means need a pity party nor do i have time to throw one for someone else. I cannot feel sorry for karrine because nowadays women (so i thought) have more self-worth, and are independent. I know i am. Karrine i don't even think that you know why you did what you did. And for those of you that think that she was "paid", there isn't any amount of money or drug in the world that i would sell my body, my dignity, and my sense of self worth for. I know to each his own, but karrine and anyone who is "going through" there has got to be a better way. This young lady made a-lot of mistakes in her life, that's obvious- but who hasn't. How many of us ladies have f*ucked a n*gga who only wanted to use us for sex and all we were left with is bad memories. The only difference is that she was f*ckin with a n*gga of a different caliber who should have known better because he has more to loose! "more money more problems." but if you think about it, some of the same celebs she mentioned in her book are rappers who make a-lot of money talking about how much "head" (and ass) they get. Well she's doing the same thing. Why is ok for them and not for her. What's good for the goose... On top of that, if her story isn't true then why haven't any of these celebs filed lawsuits against her for defemation of character? i'm sure they all have lawyers! its because legally, truth is a total defense to any defemation lawsuit. As long as she telling the truth, she has a right to recount events that have taken place in her life as it relates to others. I don't feel bad for the men she named. They made the decision to engage in behavior that may potentially ruin their marriages and their reputations. I hope that they have all learned a valuable lesson. Maybe the next time they will think wit their big heads and not their little ones!

In my opinion, i think that what she is sayin is true, why would she lie, for the money and publicity probably. Who knows. There are alot of people getting famous off of sex scandals now and she's probably just another tryna get rich and famous that way. Most of these celebs that are responding all mad adn heated cuz once again thier names are being put out therein a negative way, but they should know that if they get down with a groupie its gone come out regardless of how long it takes. It's obvious superho is a woman scorned, she's also an opportunist. Theres' nothing wrong with being either. Since she has "made it out of" these traumatic situations, that makes her a survivor. My problem with this scenario is that whilst she is taking advantage of an opportunity to earn funds, it doesn't appear that she is doing much by way of healing and changing negative behavoir patterns. It's as if she is laughing all the way to the bank but all the money in the world can't buy self respect. My question is why the names? she could have told her story without the celebrity names. To me the book just gave information not advice. You had to read the book in order to get something out of it. What i got out of it was detailed information about her life and no advice or guidance for young girls. She said she wrote the book to help young women. But, how did she help? it’s obvious she understands why she went through what she did but did she really learn from it? how can she help the next person when she still might be sleeping around or maybe even partying? i think this book might have inspired some young women to live the celebrity life she lived. The world itself teaches people to screw with no attachments (love). You hear it through rap songs all the time and even women like lil kim and others rap about it. Her life story is no different than anybody else that went through what she did, we all heard these stories before just not with celebrity names. In my conclusion, the way i see it, she simply wrote the book for money and to get back at them. In addition, i do feel she wrote the book to be honest with her self. I commend her, because it took some heart for her to come and say what she did. We all have little dirty secrets we don’t want to come out and if you don’t right now, you will. The book was very well written in explaining her life from childhood and how it all got started.

I believe that she is probably telling some truth and some lies. It wouldn't be a good book if she didn't embellish. However, i don't think it was such a cool idea to out everyone she gave "head" to and did sexual favors for. That was not cool and also it sometimes seemed as though she was glorifying what she did.

Beautiful woman and i thought that or i was hoping that at the end of her book she would have learned some kind of life lesson but it didn't happen. She is still the same lost girl she was at the beginning of the book. Although she seemed to realize that the life she was living was, in the end, non-fulfilling but then she did nothing to change her destiny. I have no problem talkin about the book that she wrote. First and for most everyone on here callin her a hoe.
