Eminem Live From New York City [Show Review]

Imagine watching Eminem cleaning a gun as he writes a suicide note, what would be your first reaction. Would you watch in suspense with fear in your heart or would you watch in excitement to see if this guy actually has the balls to pull it off? Trust me it won’t be hard to decide as you witness the opening scene of Eminem’s Live From New York City Concert which will air on Showtime on December 3rd.
Filmed in August at Madison Square Garden, off his Anger Management Tour, this concert has all the elements of Eminem: its honest and controversial. From the start Eminem captivates his audience with the preparation for his suicide and at the end of the first performance he then amuses the crowd by dissing Mariah Carey and George Bush. But after the initial excitement of the first twenty minutes, this concert soon becomes predictable.
As always Eminem couldn’t go fifteen minutes without talking about his mother by having the crowd chant, “Fuck you Debbie” and relying on D12 for some comic relief. The transition dialogue between each song seems fake and over rehearsed while the performances are mediocre. However, the highlight of this concert is the skits during the break. More like a storyline, Eminem dramatically pokes fun at his drug addiction to sleep medication which reportedly sent him to rehab in during the summer.
If you’re a fan of his lastest album, 'Encore', then you’ll enjoy seeing Eminem bending over, shaking his ass to the single “Ass Like That”. But if you’re a fan of the old school Eminem then you are better off skipping the first forty minutes of this show.
