Nobodysmiling.com : How it feels to be one of the newest stars coming out of Houston?
Killa Kyleon : It’s a great feeling you know especially when you got heat to back up what everybody is saying, it feels real good.
Nobodysmiling.com : Now tell me about your history with Slim Thug and The Boss Hogg Outlawz?
Killa Kyleon : Man we hooked up back in ‘01 with a partner of mine that’s part of The Boyz in Blue Click Chris Ward and he was doing some mixtapes and stuff with Slim Thug. I asked Chris Ward to introduce me to Thugga because I was interested in working with him. I went over there dropped a couple of bars, a couple mixtapes, and from there we been rocking ever since.
Nobodysmiling.com : So being down with Slim and everything what ya’ll been working on lately?
Killa Kyleon : Right now we working with Slim on “The Boss of All Bosses” and we just dropped “Serve and Collect” which is in stores right now. Were also working on my project “Gangstertainment” and were just rolling and working man.
Nobodysmiling.com : What part of Houston you repping North Side, South Side what’s good?
Killa Kyleon : I repping the dead-end area that’s south park which is southside Houston, you know what I’m saying.
Nobodysmiling.com : Give fans some history on your name and everything how it came up?
Killa Kyleon : When I hooked up with Big Pokey part of the Screwed Up Click the group was me, Big Pokey, and Chris Ward. As far as the name Kyleon I got the name Kyleon because my first name is Kyle. It was just a boss name and it was Kyleon so I got the name from several guys out the Screwed Up Click who were Mike D and Big Pokey. They gave me the name Kyleon and when I hooked up with Thugga that’s how I got the name “Killa”. I got that name because everything I jumped on I was smashing, that’s how I got “Killa” and I’ve been Killa Kyleon ever since.
Nobodysmiling.com : Let everybody know who’s all down with the Boss Hogg Outlawz?
Killa Kyleon : Yeah right now you got a mean team. We got me Killa Kyleon, Chris Ward, PJ The Rap Hustler, J-Dawg, Young Black The Gladiator and Slim Thug The Boss. We got an R&B cat Rob Smallz too, he’s real hot.
Nobodysmiling.com : Oh yeah I feel Rob Smallz he can sing too!
Killa Kyleon : Oh yeah we just putting together the gumbo and we got the pot cooking.
Nobodysmiling.com : Being an upcoming squad and everything with PJ, Chris Ward, and Rob Smallz bringing ya’ll own styles to the game what makes ya’ll different from each other.
Killa Kyleon : Nobody sounds like one another, it’s a big melting pot with a bunch of different styles collaborating. That’s what makes it so good, because nobody is sounding like nobody. Everybody’s all lyrical, everybody’s hard, and we all hot artists so that’s what makes it such a real great group. We really not a group though were just a squad, everybody is like solo artists. We just put it all together, but like the Boyz in Blue that’s me, PJ, Chris Ward and Slim.
Nobodysmiling.com : Do you have any soldiers under you that you plan to put out in the near future?
Killa Kyleon : Yeah I got a click called D1F which is “Day 1 Familiar”. I also got my boy out of New Orleans a cat called “The Show”, another partner called Young Rookie and Dre-Day, I got a stupid squad bro.
Nobodysmiling.com : I see Killa’s making moves on the business tip.
Killa Kyleon : Most definitely bro.
Nobodysmiling.com : What’s good with the mixtapes?
Killa Kyleon : I got a few of them out, I just dropped one called “Purple Punch”. I got a couple of older ones too “Welcome 2 The Hood” and “Welcome Back 2 The Hood. I’m also on Clue’s last mixtape ‘World Tour” so yeah I got a bunch of different things going on in the mixtape circuit and it don’t stop.
Nobodysmiling.com : I was listening to “Serve and Collect” and you have a song on there called “Badge On My Neck” and it’s crazy. I would like to know how you put your rhymes together making that track, because I was feeling it.
Killa Kyleon : Bro I didn’t even write to the beat. I’m different, I can hear a beat one time and it’s stuck in my thoughts. I really focus on the lyrical content first then me and the beat make a perfect match. That’s how it goes and it just I feels like when I rap I gotta say something to move the crowd. Every time I say a line I want an “Ohhh and Ahhh” and that’s what I focus on when I rap, I focus on getting all the attention.
Nobodysmiling.com : What’s up with the freestyles, everybody in Houston been coming up on the freestyle tip?
Killa Kyleon : Oh yeah that’s how I got the name Killam, I’m retarded with that. If you on a track and you come first you damn sure gonna sound like you came last.
Nobodysmiling.com : The album “Serve and Collect” is out right now on Koch, how did that deal go down?
Killa Kyleon : A lot of people man hearing Koch is the grave yard, I don’t know what the hell people be talking about. It’s an independent major you know, we made the move the keep the independent blast going on. Being that everybody is signed to Geffen and Interscope we just seen that as another bread tunnel to get some more money. That’s what it’s about were trying to cover all bases on the playing field. We slid to Koch, they talked about the money and we came with it.
Nobodysmiling.com : Will your independent album be on Koch?
Killa Kyleon : Nah I’m signed to Geffen/Interscope and I been signed as long as Slim has. I been signed to Geffen for almost three years now, I just been working behind Thugga and everything gonna be cool. One thing man I ain’t worrying about nothing brotha I got money, cars, I’m good. I ain’t like these other rap cats that’s starving, when I come I gonna come with the thunder and that’s just what it is. One thing about music bro is nothing gets old, but clothes.
Nobodysmiling.com : Killa’s making music to be around forever?
Killa Kyleon : That’s what I’m about bro I ain’t tryna win no BET award I’m tryna win a God Damn grammy.
Nobodysmiling.com : What’s up with a tour?
Killa Kyleon : Yeah man we globe-trotting right now so ain’t no telling where we gonna be. We gonna everybody real soon.
Nobodysmiling.com : Now Killa you spit that fire and I respect that so when I’m going to get that solo album?
Killa Kyleon : Man you gonna get it like around August or September and the name of the record is gonna be “Gangstatainment”.
Nobodysmiling.com : Tell me why you going to call it “Gangstatainment”?
Killa Kyleon : Because I entertain the G’s bro, I entertain the streets and the gangstas so I called it “Gangstatainment”. I’m doing mine for the streets man I ain’t selling my soul. Fans get at me on www.myspace.com/killakyleonbhoor www.myspace.com/therealkillakyleon
