Yung Joc - Hustlenomic$

Interview by: Quinton Hatfield

Yung Joc InterviewYung Joc is not a lyricist as many would agree, but at the end of the day he just doesn’t care. Yung Joc is all about getting the club popping off which is what he does best. Whether you were doing the motorcycle bounce or not, Yung Joc’s solo debut “New Joc City” reached platinum status. This time around though (numbers wise) the new album “Hustlenomics” didn’t fair so well. According to Yung Joc sales is really not his concern as he still finds a way to enjoy life to the fullest. More moves are also being made with Block Ent as their new addition Gorilla Zoe joins Boyz N Da Hood. Joc reflects on the relationship with him and Zoe back in the day. Oh yeah and if hip-hop doesn’t remember Yung Joc he got something for it.

Yung Joc Quote Nobodysmiling.com : Yung Joc how is life treating you right now?

Yung Joc : Man everything is good man, I’m all over the country seeing new places, new people, and different things.

Nobodysmiling.com : How do you feel about the album, do feel good at what it’s doing right now?

Yung Joc : Well, how it’s doing right now is not the best, but you will see a spike shortly soon as this video gets up and running the “Bottle Poppin”. You will see the sales go upward, from forward to downward.

Nobodysmiling.com : Were sales ever your concern?

Yung Joc : Not really.

Nobodysmiling.com : Can you tell me why not?

Yung Joc : I mean this is one of those things where it doesn’t matter to me.

Nobodysmiling.com : So talk about the album and why people should go out and get it?

Yung Joc : It’s like this dude, it’s a lot of good records on there. A lot of people want to know what’s good with Yung Joc and all you gotta do is listen to the album.

Nobodysmiling.com : How you feel about this whole movement with Block Ent?

Yung Joc : I mean it is what it is man, we growing. We still got some things we gotta get all the way right as far as the decisions we make, but other than that it is what it is. We are gonna do our thing.

Nobodysmiling.com : How you feel when people criticize you for not being a lyricist?

Yung Joc : How do I feel about it?

Nobodysmiling.com : Yeah?

Yung Joc : It’s funny, it tickles me, because I don’t give a shit about that.

Nobodysmiling.com : Oh yeah? Go into a little bit more and tell why not?

Yung Joc : Why should I? I never told ya’ll I was the best lyricist.

Nobodysmiling.com : Well at least you got a point in that factor.

Yung Joc : You know what I’m saying. Who cares? I’m a guy who wants to crank the party up. I don’t know too many people that’s in the clubs trying to party and having a good time looking for lyrics.

Nobodysmiling.com : Do you feel hip-hop is going to remember Yung Joc one day?

Yung Joc : Hell yeah, I’ll slap the shit out of it if it don’t.

Nobodysmiling.com : How is everything going on at Bad Boy right now?

Yung Joc : Everything cool man, you know I’m about to drop a new Cherri Dennis record featuring myself and Gorilla Zoe.

Nobodysmiling.com : How is everything going down working with Boyz N Da Hood and Gorilla Zoe?

Yung Joc : Everything is in motion, Gorilla Zoe got his movement, Boyz N Da Hood trying to get some momentum under their movement, it’s all a grind. I don’t care how big your last shit was your new one is like starting all over again.

Nobodysmiling.com : You know what they say about going to the next level, once you get there it’s like starting all over again.

Yung Joc : Yup, Yup, Yup, that’s pretty much what it’s like.

Nobodysmiling.com : How you feel about Gorilla Zoe a new cat being new to the team?

Yung Joc : I feel good about it, I think he definitely brings something good to the table and he adds another element to the music so that’s good.

Nobodysmiling.com : Can you talk about the relationship you had with Gorilla Zoe before ya’ll both got on?

Yung Joc : I was in a group a long time ago and when I got out the group my cousin met Zoe when they moved to East Point. Zoe began working with him so I been knew Zoe.

Nobodysmiling.com : How did ya’ll come together to come up with the hit song “Bottle Poppin”?

Yung Joc : Don P had an idea, he wanted to sample something Zoe said and he wanted to hear my flow over it and I did it.

Nobodysmiling.com : Being one of the top artists in the game right now, how you feel about the support you getting back home?

Yung Joc : I think the support got me sheltered, where I’m from Atlanta runs the music industry as far as what records are going to be played and what’s not going to be played. I definitely need that love to step up to make sure that the rest of the world need to be playing my shit.

Nobodysmiling.com : Speaking on that how far you think the movement in Atlanta will keep running the music industry?

Yung Joc : I don’t know.

Nobodysmiling.com : Why you think ya’ll get so much hate?

Yung Joc : I don’t know man, it is what it is. Every dog has it’s day you know what I’m saying. You never just gonna get the day where you get all the shine, you gonna have a day when all the shit gets out on you. Right now we doing what we do so let it be, that’s all I can say. To the haters thank you for hating it makes us work harder.

Nobodysmiling.com : Yung Joc did you ever think you would grow up to be who you are today?

Yung Joc : Yes, that’s why I went so hard at it.

Nobodysmiling.com : Can you tell some cats how hard it is to get to the point where you at?

Yung Joc : Hard as Superman knee-caps!

Nobodysmiling.com : Besides the music and everything what does Yung Joc like to do on the personal side of things?

Yung Joc : Man I just like to kick it man. I like to party, have fun, I like to do crazy shit like paint-balling, I like women who are mixed with Black and White.

Nobodysmiling.com : So what’s the groupie love like for Yung Joc?

Yung Joc : I’m a solo artist.

Nobodysmiling.com : I’m talking about the groupies?

Yung Joc : Nah I don’t do no groupies I’m a solo artist.

Nobodysmiling.com : What’s next up for Yung Joc and talk about Diddy's involvement in your new projects?

Yung Joc : Me and Puff real coo, Diddy respects me as a man. As far as what’s next for me is some movies, some more songs, more albums, more interviews, more people who hate me.

Nobodysmiling.com : Talk about the movies you about to get into?

Yung Joc : I’m trying out for a whole lot of different roles, just waiting on the call backs right now.

Nobodysmiling.com : Final message for the fans out there?

Yung Joc : Thank you for the support and the new album is in stores.

Congrats to yung joc for his recent success.....i hope he gets his money now......while the masses are still stupid enough to have an artist admit that he dosent care about his own art...these guys kill me they laugh harder than anybody because they barely have to think to make records and they know it......kids are getting robbed without the gun by these guys here gimme 15 dollars for this sh*t i threw together.. So i can get in my video and show off ur hard earned money on tv while giving u more bouncy club hits....without soul....anyway i wish him well

Anyone wanna bet his first movie is a club dancing movie like "save the last bounce" or some sh*t, maybe take place in a skating rink with all the glittery jackets these guys love.....but who knows maybe he can act we'll see

Southern rap is not really rap. Just listen to their lyrics. It’s mostly just about the music, like techno or pop music, it falls under that category. The lyrics are poor, and i do not seem to understand that ridiculous dance with fingers snapping? what is that about? i can tell you this. Take any little rapper (what i call southern rappers because most of them have the word little in front of their names, and that’s all they will always be) and have him freestyle against someone like cannibus, papoose, or someone from wu tang, and you will see that they are wack. Seriously, it’s a disgrace. I remember someone online who told me about a rapper named little john or something like that. He gave me the link. I listened to it. Most of the time he just screamed, “whaaaaaaaaaaat!” wow, very impressive. These guys are so lazy when it comes to rapping. They choose easy words to rhyme with, cat, hat, dog, etc…, and people are stupid enough to call it hip hop. It’s just a fad. It will die soon, very soon. Then the west & east coast will dominate hip hop again.

How has hip-hop changed? now artists can just say f*ck lyrics in an interview and be happy with that statement. Joc is right no one at a club is dancing to eric b for president. However, the interesting part of good lyrics is that you can also find it on a club. Don't believe me joc...listen to a couple of b.i.g. Records. Lyrics are heart of rap music no matter what you say. Club records or head nodders...its all about the lyrics. Now-a-days we got f*ckin "ring-tone rappers." destroying the music.

I did not dislike his previous album, but it is like it's said: he's not quite the best at lyrics. But on the other hand, its perfect music when you're drunk, and i think it suits for clubs too. He's doing his thing. Not one of those copy cats.
