Mos DefHip-hop singer and actor Mos Def is opening an office - in Dumbo, the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood that's Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.
He's planting his Goodtree Media in 1,800 square feet of rented space at 45 Main St., a former industrial building that developer David Walentas converted into an office property.

"We're diehard Brooklynites," his manager, Umi Smith, said, explaining the choice of location.

Mos Def - who starred in Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Topdog/Underdog" - is moving full-speed ahead on his dual career path.

"The Woodsman," an indie film he appears in with Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, was a hit at the recent Sundance Film Festival. He starts filming "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" this spring. And he's releasing a new album this summer.

His new office is in a building with a funky mix of tenants including Gleason's Gym. More than half the occupants are painters, photographers and graphic designers, said Walentas' leasing exec Chris Havens.

Mos Def's broker was Dewayne Williams of Citi Habitats.
