The first Single 'Still In Love' Receiving Early Airplay and New CD 'La Dona' Slated for Early Summer Release.

Teena Marie Re-Teams With Rick James; CD Also Contains Collaborations With Gerald Levert, MC Lyte and Others.

Cash Money/Universal Records is proud to announced the signing of veteran R&B/Pop singer/songwriter Teena Marie to the label's roster. The multi-dimensional and versatile California native's debut on Cash Money Classics is set to be released early summer.

Ms. Marie's newest effort, La Dona features collaborations with R&B crooner Gerald Levert on "A Rose," rappers MC Lyte and the up and coming underground Los Angeles-based hip-hop artist Medusa on "The Mackin Game." La Dona also contains a reunion with soul/funk pioneer Rick James on "I Got You." The lead single from the forthcoming CD, "Still In Love," is already receiving strong radio airplay in major markets even thought the official add date for the song is March 3rd. "Still In Love" was co-produced by Ms. Marie along with Cash Money's resident hit-maker Mannie Fresh.

Over the course of her illustrious career, Teena Marie has had over 13 albums including her debut set, Wild And Peaceful (1979), featuring her first hit single, "I'm A Sucker For Your Love;" Lady T (1980) and the hit, "Behind The Groove"; the gold-selling Irons In The Fire (1980), spawned the smash hit, "I Need Your Loving"; Must Be Magic (1981) featured the hit songs, "Square Biz" and "Portuguese Love"; Starchild (1984) yielded "Lovergirl"; and Naked To The World (1988) produced the hit single, "Ooh La La." Throughout her distinguished career, Teena Marie has also released at least 10 compilations albums including 20th Century Masters: The Best of Teena Marie - The Millennium Collection (2001) and Lovergirl: The Teena Marie Story (1997).

In 1994, Teena Marie became an entrepreneur when she launched her own label, Sarai Records, and independently released Passion Play. Ms. Marie is currently completing domestic spot dates (some with Rick James). Detroit can catch Teena Marie performing with Rick James at Fox Theater in Detroit on March 21st.
