Thursday, July 22, 2004 By: brooklyniteOne
A native of Long Island, Lil Mo has left Elektra Records and has signed a deal with Cash Money Records.
“I’ve watched the history of Cash Money, and they’re just really good people that genuinely care for me. To get down with them was a blessing – their roster is crazy. I’m just excited to be around true musicians that love what they do and aren’t like ‘You sing and I’ll sit back and collect a check’. They’re really behind me and I respect them and they respect me.”
“I was known as the ‘ Nate Dogg of Music’,” she says. “I did hooks for everybody. But one person who really took me under their wing honestly was Missy Elliot . She helped me out a lot, a lot. I did work for all of her artists and was featured on her albums. People showed me love based off of her recognizance.”
Her new third album “Syndicated” is slated to be released early 2005. The first single is “Hot Girls” featuring Fabulous willl drop fall/winter of this year.
On the song “Hot Girls” Mo says, "It’s basically motivation for the ladies; they call them street anthems. If you watch a lot of TV, a lot of things you see and hear, you begin to believe. With shows like “America’s Top Model”, women begin to question their appearance and not like the way they look. I’m trying to tell women that you don’t have to be a size zero. And honestly if you look at half the people that look like that, they have issues!"
