Common, Nappy Roots & Blackalicious Join Roots Rock Reggae Festival

This summer celebrate Marley’s music and more at the 1st annual Bob Marley: Roots Rock and Reggae Festival.

The Marley sons Ziggy, Stephen, Julian , Damian, and Ky-Mani Marley, will be kicking off a summer tour to recognize their father’s contributions to the world of reggae music. The William Morris Agency sponsored tour will showcase the Marley brothers a individual material as well as many of their father's best-loved classics. Toots and the Maytals will also be on hand to lend their classic sound to the inaugural concert.

To pay tribute to reggae’s influence on hip-hop, artists such as Common , Nappy Roots and Blackalicious will also be touring with the festival. Re-emphasizing the unique bond that the hip-hop and reggae community’s share.

For those not as familiar with Bob Marley’s be sure to look for the Bob Marley & The Wailers Legend (Sound+Vision) 2 CD/DVD Combo Set. The CD set which was released on July 13, 2004 by UMe, and features tracks such as ‘No Woman, No Cry’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘I Shot The Sheriff’ and ‘Jammin’. With the DVD featuring videos for ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘Get Up Stand Up’ and many others. In addition to releasing Legend, Bob Marley & The Wailers now also have a 20th Century Masters Collection CD that features songs such as ‘Soul Rebel’, ‘Concrete Jungle’ and ‘Stir it Up’. Other 20th Century Masters titles to look out for feature artists such as Peter Tosh, Third World, Jimmy Cliff and Steel Pulse. As well as a Live re-mastered CD from Toots and The Maytals’ 1980 performance at the Hammersmith Palais in London.
