Mos Def Falls Back: Removes Controversial Song

Thursday, December 9, 2004
By: brooklyniteOne

Mos DefMos Def's latest album "The New Danger" has recently become less dangerous than when first released. A song with lyrics that are considered 'controversial' by some has been removed.

The song in question is 'The Rape Over' which features a beat used on the Jay-Z song 'The Take Over' produced by Kanye West released on 'The Blueprint.'

The Rape Over was removed from new printings of "The New Danger" after its initial release in October. Although no official word has been released as to why the song has been removed, Word on the street is that the lyrics stating "quasi-homosexuals" and "some tall Israeli is runnin this rap sh*t" (possibly referring to Lyor Cohen) is behind the removal of the song.

I dont think that its that big of deal. To me personally the album is trying to tell a story an thats part of it. Im not shocked at all because as much as i hate to say it but its about the money!!! when it should be about the music.
