Young Buck to Stand Trial for Vibe Stabbing
Thursday, June 9, 2005 By: Dondiego
A judge ruled Monday that David
Darnell Brown, better known as rapper
Young Buck, must stand trial on an assault
charge for allegedly stabbing a man during
the chair-tossing scrap at last year’s Vibe
Awards in Santa Monica, CA.
Buck was charged with taking a knife
to Jimmy James Johnson after Johnson
allegedly sucker-punched his mentor Dr.
Dre during the Nov. 15 taping of the show.
Superior Court Judge James Dabney found
sufficient evidence to try the 24-year-old,
who was scheduled to be arraigned
Tuesday.
"We're confident when all the truth
comes out, he'll be exonerated," said
defense attorney Leonard Levine.
Meanwhile, Johnson has pleaded not
guilty to an assault charge for the alleged
Dr. Dre punch that set off the scuffle.
