Common to Release Cinematic Style Video
Thursday, September 29, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
The emcee once known as Common Sense continues to build on his widely acclaimed gold album “BE”, with a third video. “Testify”, the suspenseful song about a woman’s desperate yearning to testify on behalf of her man in court, features an experienced cast, including Wood Harris (“The Wire”, “Paid in Full”, “Remember the Titans”), Steve Harris (“The Practice”), and Taraji P. Henson (“Hustle & Flow”, “Baby Boy”, “Four Brothers”).
The video is produced by Box Fresh Pictures. Proving that the tag “underground” doesn’t always equal limited exposure, Common is also slated to perform “Testify” on “Regis & Kelly” October 7th. He intends to move into the world of fashion as well, spawning a hat collection called “Soji”.
Common’s community involvement won’t slack off, he intends to release a children’s book through Hip Hop School House; this is in addition to the Common Ground Foundation, which conducts youth seminars concerning controversial hip hop images as they relate to self esteem. Recently the foundation donated proceeds from a “Testify” premier party, to Hurricane Katrina victims in Chicago. Common can be seen live throughout the country on the “Touch the Sky” tour, beginning October 11th. “BE” has received near perfect ratings from magazines such as The Source, Blender, Vibe, and Rolling Stones. “Testify” is premiering this week on both MTV and BET
