Bun B Inks Shoe Deal with Dame Dash
Saturday, October 1, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
Bun B. of acclaimed Texas hip hop duo UGK recently signed with Dame Dash to develop a signature line of Pro Keds sneakers.
The deal seems like reciprocation for past contributions by Bun B. to Roc-A-Fella Records. According to Bun B, “anytime Jay-Z or Dame or Biggs needed anything, I was there for them. I feel honored and respected.”
Bun B.’s will accompany the State Property line of Pro Keds in stores now. The Texas product has also agreed to work with Reebok to promote a retro sneaker set to debut during next year’s NBA All Star weekend in Houston. Although Bun B. is widely respected throughout hip hop he hasn’t received mainstream exposure until recently. This year he’s featured on Webbie’s “Gimme That” and Slim Thug’s “I Ain’t Heard of That”.
Concerning the Reebok offer he says, “I was really flattered. They want to do a Houston shoe, something like with the old Rockets theme.”
Rap-A-Lot/Asylum will release Bun B.’s first solo LP “Trill” October 18th. It features production from Mannie Fresh, Jazze Pha and Li’l John. His line of Pro Keds sneakers is coming soon.
