Def Jam to Re-release Classics
Wednesday, October 12, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
Def Jam’s parent company Universal Music is in the process of repressing approximately thirty six “classic” LPs and 12”s.
Research yielded a selection of seventeen LPs and nineteen singles, many of which have only been available on vinyl the last few years. Music by Public Enemy(“Yo! Bum Rush The Show”), LL Cool J (“Mr. Smith), Memphis Bleek (“Is That Yo Chick”) and Case (“Touch Me Tease Me”) are all among the group to be reissued.
The announcement comes on the heels of VH1’s Hip Hop Honors, which was hosted by Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons. No release date as of yet.
