Lil' Wayne joins Boyz N Da Hood
Sunday, October 16, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
According to a Universal Records representative Lil Wayne recently signed as the newest member of Atlanta collective Boyz N Da Hood. The new President of Cash Money Records replaces Young Jeezy, who was only under contract for one album. Jeezy is also signed to Def Jam. His solo debut “Thug Motivation: 101” has been quite successful: “I was a solo artist first. My album was set up to come out first, before I did the little situation [with Bad Boy]. But just me being a gangster and real about what I'm doing agreed to push my album back so I could get the Boyz N Da Hood project rolling.” Schedule conflicts emerged once Jeezy’s record dropped in July.
The group’s founder and Blok Entertainment CEO Blok seeks to quell the rumors of internal beef: “…it’s not a replacement it’s a continuance… All of us are brothers. That’s very important, it’s a continuance. This is the way it was set out to be when it first started.” Blok adds that T.I. will also join the team, but Atlantic Records denies it. He claims Trick Daddy (Atlantic) and Sean Paul (Young Bloods) were original member as well, but got replaced by Big Duke, Big Gee, and Jody Breeze.
Incidentally Jeezy, T.I., and Lil Wayne begin a nationwide tour this November.
