Ms. Wallace Reflects On Biggie in New Book
Monday, October 17, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
Voletta Wallace, mother of legendary emcee Notorious B.I.G., is due to release a book on her son’s life and death. “Biggie: Voletta Wallace Remembers Her Son, Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G.” was written in conjunction with Tremell McKenzie.
It details the influence Ms. Wallace had on her son's character: “I think the one thing I am most proud of about Christopher was his heart condition. He was a giver to anyone who asked. He was a man of his word. And he was loyal. All of these things are conditions of the heart that I know I helped to develop and instill in him.” Ms. Wallace speaks on contractual and royalty related conflicts met while managing B.I.G.’s artistic estate. She also explains her relationships with Diddy, Lil Kim, and Lil Cease, whom she feels have exploited the late emcee’s legacy. An Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) directed film on B.I.G.’s life will follow the book. A portion of the proceeds go to the Christopher Wallace Foundation, which supports inner city schools.
A clothing line and B.I.G. compilation are due out as well. “Biggie: Voletta Wallace Remembers Her Son, Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G.” hits book stores November 1st.
