RaekwonRaekwon The Chef may soon become the hardest working member of the Wu-Tang Clan, as the Staten Island slang-ologist is slated to drop two new mixtapes before this year’s end. The first one, titled “Weed vs. Coke,” is a collaborative effort featuring Non Phixion’s Ill Bill, and hosted by DJ Riddler. Enemy and Thousands To M’s have already been making rounds on the internet for the past few weeks.

Raekwon’s second mixtape is a solo project titled “Raekwon presents: The Vatican” which includes the Pete Rock-produced Kids That’s Rich
, and is set to drop on December 13th on Counterflow Distribution.

All of this is in preparation for Rae’s highly anticipated album Only Built For Cuban Linx II, the sequel to his 1995 solo debut. “We’re the gods who made that classic,” Raekwon told Billboard.com earlier this summer. “We’re coming with the same formula to create another classic.” It’s been publicized that the RZA and Busta Rhymes are executively producing the project, but also expect guest production by Dr. Dre and the Alchemist, as well as appearances by Nas, Mobb Deep, and Wu counterpart Ghostface.

“We could never reinvent the same potion,” Raekwon said,” but my whole thing is the storyline, the characters that play inside this film. I call it a film because I’m used to writing portraits. I’m not just a dude that writes a bunch of rhymes that have no demeanor to them.”

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II is tentatively scheduled to hit stores by January 2006.

Every since the ever-obscuring shadow of jay-z has been less apparent since his highly publicized retirement (if you want to call it that), everyone's coming out the would works now! damn; i haven't heard from raekwon in many, many moons.

SlapBoxYaMom says:
Does dude really think he's gonna match the purple tape? i hope so, but damn... Wu

ATHOTEP says:
Yeah i support rae, but damn, that last album was garbage! i hope they can get that same energy back and make another classic!

Don Mega G says:
In my opinion it's all timing, it's not the right time for a cuban lynx ii album. There's too much south trash-rap going on right now, we need to come with a strong east/coast rap movement, take the game back over and then maybe mid-late summer drop a cuban lynx ii album to solidify the movement. It would create the same type of mystique the purple tape manifested when it dropped in summer '95. Every car and radio station had a diffrent track playing, it was maddness..we need for this dirty south trash-muzik to die down first though...

evenwhenIlie says:
Yeh; jay & nas should do a whole album together!! that would send shock waves throughout the hip-hop world! i would like to see mos def, common, kanye west and gill scott heron do a album together as well! for all those who don't know who gill scott is, he's the poet who first said the 'revolution will not be televised'. Its time for the truth and the light.

TheGully says:
I will be getting this mixtape but i hope its as hard as his first cuban linx

YoungMega says:
Yeh cuban linx was his best, but that albun with ghostface (ironman) was live.
