Russell SimmonsThe third Hip-hop Summit Action Network awards will be held in New York City on Novemeber 16th at the Lighthouse, Chelsea Piers. This year the awards honor Chrysler Financial, Destiny's Child, Jermaine Dupri and Nelly for the positive work they have put in to 'utilizing the power of Hip-hop for positive social change.

After recently coming off a book tour to promote his well recieved book From Intern to President: Make It Happen, Kevin Liles acts as Honorary Chair and will make the keynote speech. Having already visited cities such as St. Louis, Detroit, Miami and New Orleans to name but a few where successful summits were heald on financial empowerment HASAN's ability to reach out to todays youth and encourage social and political awareness continues to advance to greater heights and a wider audience throughout America.

We need more functions like this in the hip hop community. Like most of the featured artists of the summit said about st. Louis... We do need to start working together when it comes to all these record labels instead of being divided.

When my son came to me about helping him to start a record label out of my basement i thought he was out of his mind. But, i had forgotten about how just the night before i had been praying that the lord would help him to find a way to make it in this world. He had to ask me twice before i could hear the lord speaking to me about how willing i am to help people that i don't know and not my own. That is when i decided that i was going to answer the call on my life to start with my own. If we just listen to the voice inside of us we will find the answer to all of our problems. Hip-hop music has a voice just like any other music does. We as parents of this hip-hop generation needs to listen and you too will hear the pain of son who wants to know why his dad is not in his life or why did my mother give me away. If you listen you too can fill their pain. Lovettrleaveit
