Hip-Hop Summit Action Network talk on Irv and Chris Gotti
Saturday, November 19, 2005 By: Melanie J Cornish
"We demand equal justice and basic fairness in this case. The whole world is now watching how it appears America is putting hip-hop on trial," said the President of The Hip-Hop Action Summit Network (HSAN) Dr. Benjamin Chavis, in New York City on the case of the Gotti Brothers. The HSAN stands for equal justice for all and hopes that the brothers will receive an unbiased and fair trial.
Irv and Chris Gotti went into day two of their money laundering trial, at the Supreme Court in Brooklyn. The brothers have made considerable contributions to the 'evolution of hip-hop culture,' and Russell Simmons, Chairman of the HSAN emphasized his concerns being down to 'the government spending too much time on profiling and prosecuting members of the Hip-hop community and not enough protecting the community from known drug dealers and murderers who threaten us."
