MF Doom to record LP with Wu-Tang’s Ghostface
Monday, November 28, 2005 By: Kenny Rodriguez
MF Doom, known best for wrecking mics while rocking a chrome-alloy mask, is preparing to work with equally eccentric rapper Ghostface.
The duo discuss their upcoming collaborative album, tentatively titled Swift & Changeable, in the latest issue of Mass Appeal.
“Starks is an ill dude,” Doom said in the interview. “Something about his flows and the fact that he rocked a mask too was something that was to be admired. To have the daring to do that.” The Wally Champ returned the compliment. “About Doom? He can rhyme, he just got a good ear for music and he can rhyme well too,” said Ghost. “He’s a great artist. He’s like me in a way, very creative.”
To Doom and Ghost fans, the collabo seemed almost inevitable as the two MCs have for years expressed a shared fascination with hip-hop, Marvel comic books, and 1970s soul samples. According to sources, the album may hit stores as early as spring 2006.
In related news, Doom is hitting the road alongside rapper/producer Count Bass D and John Robinson (formerly Lil Sci of Scienz Of Life). Tour dates are as follows:
Dec. 5 – Austin, TX (La Zona Rosa)
Dec. 6 – Boulder, CO (Fox Theatre)
Dec. 7 – Los Angeles, CA (El Rey Theater)
Dec. 8 – San Francisco, CA (The Independent)
Dec. 9 – San Francisco, CA (The Independent)
Dec. 11 – Chicago, IL (Abbey Pub)
Dec. 12 – Seattle, WA (Chop Suey)
Dec. 13 – Seattle, WA (Chop Suey)
