Kanye & Music Land Inc Support Education
Thursday, December 8, 2005 By: Michael Ivey
The Kanye West Foundation for education and music retailer Music Land Inc. are sponsoring the Free U. Giveaway. The nationwide raffle offers the winner $150,000 towards a four year university education.
Ballots are available at Sam Goody, Sun Coast, and Media Play chains throughout the country. West says he’s “excited to have this opportunity to partner with Musicland”, and they’re “not just giving away a significant amount of money; we're sponsoring someone's dreams.” The Kanye West Foundation has also sponsored “Loop Dreams”, an effort to put new music production equipment in schools and provide incentives for students more interested in the arts.
The Grammy award winning emcee/producer has released two commercially and critically successful hip hop albums (College Dropout 2003 & Late Registration 2005). Musicland Group Inc. is a national retailer in movies, music, and video games, aimed at providing popular titles for entertainment consumers. The winner of Free U. Giveaway’s $150,000 grand prize will be drawn in 2006.
