Lil Wayne Takes Aim
Thursday, December 22, 2005 By: John Kennedy
Lil’ Wayne has apparently caught the Fiddy flu, as a recent track features Weezy taking swipes at former Cash Money cohort Juvenile, Kelis and hubby Nas, and even beefs with grandmaster 50 Cent.
“I’ll Teach You How to Stunt, but your boy not 50 / Got 50 in the gun, tell ya boy get wit’ me / A vest can’t help the pump that I empty / You gon’ really need a Unit for this G mayne,” Wayne spits on the diss track, titled “You Don’t Know.”
Cash Money’s youngest in charge then directs tough talk in Nas’ direction.
“Nivea no more, I want Kelis / I leave a bitch ass n*gga Braveheart in the streets / Her Milkshake brings this boy right to the yard / and I’ll take your One Mic and leave with your broad,” he rhymes over skipping percussion and irritated electric guitar riffs.
While these shots are seemingly unprovoked, his direct name calling of fellow Hurricane Katrina victim Juvenile are more predictable, as differences with the label led to Juve’s departure from Cash Money to Atlantic Records.
“Yeah, Weezy goin’ hard, don’t move me / I don’t f*ck with Stunner, I don’t f*ck with Juve / Cash Money, Young Money it’s a movement / Y’all lil’ n*ggas is too fake, it’s a movie.”
Lil’ Wayne’s had his best opening week sales ever with his latest album, The Carter II, which has moved 239,312 units in its first seven days. While the album does not feature “You Don’t Know,” it’s lead by the sizzling single “Fireman.”
