G-Unit Spreads Holiday Cheer Across The Country
Monday, January 2, 2006 By: John Kennedy
While the holiday season has come and gone, the effects of G-Unit’s nationwide generosity will have lasting impact through the new year.
Sponsored by The G-Unity Foundation, 50 Cent, along with G-Unit recording artists Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Olivia, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., and Spider Loc, surprised children at three nonprofit organizations.
The giving began on Dec. 19 in Nashville, Tennessee, where Young Buck visited seventy children at the Fannie Battle Day Home for Children. The children received toys and were treated to a piazza party, while the organization was presented a check for $25,000.
Four days later, Spider Loc visited Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum, and treated 100 children to a party where they received iPod Shuffles. Spider also presented the director, Robin Petgrave, with a check for $25,000 to support Positive Vibrations, their youth mentoring program.
The New York based G-Unit artists surprised 85 children at the Springfield Family Inn in Jamaica, New York. 50 Cent, Olivia, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Mobb Deep and M.O.P. all appeared with loads of toys, coats, hats, and gloves for every one of the kids. The Boys Choir of Harlem also appeared and performed. Homes for the Homeless received a $25,000 grant to fund their Healthy Living Center Project expansion project. A grant of $10,000 was also awarded to the Boys Choir of Harlem, Inc.
The G-Unity Foundation, Inc. will continue its efforts to improve the quality of life for low-income and underserved communities in 2006.
