Queen Latifah Gets Her Star

Illustrious emcee/ singer/actress /producer Queen Latifah was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday. Honorary Mayor Johnny Grant and Tinseltown’s Chamber of Commerce president/CEO Leron Gubler honored Queen, aka Dana Owens, for her seventeen years of high quality work in music, film, and television.
Queen Latifah came on the entertainment scene in 1989 with her hip hop debut "All Hail the Queen"; since then she has starred in a successful tv series ("Living Single", ‘93-‘98), hosted her own talk show ("Queen Latifah Show", ‘99-’01) and starred in films such as "Beauty Shop" (’05) and "Bringing Down the House" (’04). The Queen has also garnered roles in twenty six other films, including voice-overs for animated characters. She is currently working on the animated film "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown". In 2004 Queen Latifah made her singing debut via "The Dana Owens Album" (Vector/Interscope), covering popular soul, blues, and jazz songs like "Simply Beautiful" (Al Green, ‘72), "Same Love" (Bill Whithers,’74), and "Hello Stranger" (Barbara Lewis, ’63).
Her star is number 2,298 on Hollywood Boulevard. Other performers scheduled to receive stars this year include Matthew Broderick, Steve Martin, Motley Crew, and Isaac Hayes.

It's about time tinseltown honored the queen....i think queen latifah is a class act i like how she conducts her business, although i'm not too happy about some of her movie role selections but overall she is a iconic figure in the black community..all hail the queen!!
