Twista Speaks on Weekend Car Accident
Monday, January 9, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Today Atlantic Records artist Twista released a statement concerning a car accident he experienced this past weekend. He was reportedly the victim of a hit and run in his native Chicago early Saturday morning. "I want to thank all of my fans and supporters for checking in on my health", he said. "I was the victim of a hit and run car accident… but I am home resting comfortably as per the guidance of my doctor." Authorities haven’t indicated whether they’ve identified any suspects in the case.
The rapid fire lyricist’s latest LP, The Day After, debuted at # 2 last October and has sold 500,000 copies to date, according to www.billboard.com. Twista added, "the grind does not stop, as I will shortly be back in front of my fans, giving them the energetic performances they have come to expect from me." Twista’s nine year career picked up steam in 2003 when he aligned himself with Roc-A-Fella Records. In 2004 he released his third solo album, Kamikaze, which includes the hit single "Slow Jamz" featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. "Girl Tonite", featuring Atlantic singer Trey Songz, is currently # 13 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart.
