Ghostface Prepping Fifth LP Fishscale

By: Michael Ivey

GhostfaceAccording to Def Jam sources, and Ironman himself , Wu-Tang’s most acclaimed member is sitting on an absolute heat rock. From standout crew songs to classic co-piloting (Only Built 4 Cuban Link) and heralded solo efforts (Ironman, Supreme Clientele) Ghostface has cemented a solid legacy. Now he plans on proving he can "still ball with the best of them." His latest album Fishscale will be Ghost’s fifth solo release overall and second on hip hop powerhouse Def Jam Records. Following insignificant sales of The Pretty Tony LP he has acquired production from underground stalwarts Pete Rock, MF Doom, Madlib, and Jay Dilla. On "Back Like That", the single featuring Def Jam new comer Ne-yo, Ghost employs his signature energetic somberness to lament an ex’s union with a hood rival. "Just to be considered for the song was an honor", says Ne-yo. "Ghostface is one of the most original hip-hop artists around."

Ghost hasn’t gotten high in "over 2 years" according to him. This combined with thirteen years of experience has him poised to receive recognition in 2006. "With each album I learn, so this album has the most knowledge of all of them", says Ghost. "This album is gonna put me back on top of everyone’s list. Ain’t nobody approaching they music with the care that I do."

Fishscale hits retail Feb. 28th, nine days after an eleven stop Wu-Tang reunion tour. Ghostface also plans to release a limited edition replica doll through 4 Cast Limited; for more information visit www.defjam.com and www.theghostfacedoll.com.

I'm looking forward to ghost's new lp he sought out some hot producers for this project.
