Def Jam Fight for NY Comes to PSP
Thursday, January 19, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
This March Electronic Arts and Def Jam Enterprises, LLC, will re-issue 2004’s hip hop wrestling game "Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover" for Sony Playstation Portable. "EA has developed an unparalleled title and we are confident that it will go far beyond everyone's expectations," says Def Jam Enterprises Vice President Lauren Wirtzer.
Game players can go head to head via PSP’s wireless connection or use artists like Busta Rhymes, Carmen Electra, Lil' Kim, Snoop Dogg and Xzibit to uncover how the D-Mob took over NYC in the original "Def Jam Vendetta." "The Takover" preceded "Def Jam Vendetta II" which sold over 1 million copies since 2004 according to retail information provider NPD.
The original "Vendetta", released in 2003, sold 900,000 units. EA marketing Vice President Jeff Karp says sales for both games rose when featured artists released albums, i.e. Method Man’s Tical 0: The Prequel (2004) and Ludacris’ Chicken & Beer (2003) and Red Light District (2004). "The Takeover" features over 36 songs from 2003-2004 Def Jam releases. It includes fresh fighting moves and venues plus cloths by Def Jam University, Phat Farm, Brand Jordan, Ecko Unlimited, Enyce, Rocawear, Sean John, State Property and Reebok.
