Cam'ron Sheds Light On Issues at Press Conference
Thursday, January 26, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Cam’ron "Killa Cam" Giles shed light on his Jay-Z diss and served up sarcastic insults for the label president and recent Def Jam acquisition Nas at a press conference Wednesday. Cam told reporters at New York's Tribeca Cinemas that he agreed not to diss Def Jam or any of its’ figures as apart of his release but still said, "If anybody can bone somebody's Baby Mother and bring them on stage to give them five, [then] you look good." "I think that's a good move for Jay-Z." He apparently risks getting hit with a $100,000 fine for violating the agreement.
Cam'ron did relent somewhat by denying that he was ever intimate with Jay-Z’s girl Beyonce, however he reiterated his claim that Jay-Z has it bad for former Notorious B.I.G. girlfriend, rapper Charlie Baltimore. "A lot of people thought it [Lance Un Rivera stabbing] was about a bootleg CD," he said. "It was about Charli Baltimore. He loved her." Though Cam'ron declared he was ready for "fifteen rounds" on "You Gotta Love It" he says he won’t release another diss unless Jay-Z responds. "At the end of the day, I'm not gonna keep beating up on an old man," he said.
Jay-Z told MTV this week he is torn about retorting because Cam'ron’s diss isn’t artistic and "it’s such a ploy" for attention and record sales. Cam'ron denies the diss is a publicity stunt, because his album and film, both called 'Killa Season', don’t drop until the Spring. He also verified that fellow Diplomat Juelz Santana was banned from the Def Jam building following an incident with an employee. Cam'ron refuted rumors that Juelz is on his way out at Def Jam.
Cam'ron announced that 'Killa Season' the movie hits stores April 11th and the LP comes out April 26th. JR Writer, Hell Rell, Duke The God, Juelz and Jim Jones are also scheduled to release records this year. Cam'ron plans to launch killacam.net as well. He is due in court next Tuesday to find out if he’ll have to do 30 days in jail for violating his parole last October by going to Washington, D.C. where he was shot in the arm.
