P. Diddy Under Fire for Publishing Royalties
Saturday, January 28, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Producers and writers responsible for Bad Boy hits such as "One More Chance," "Dead Wrong" and "Sky's the Limit" are reportedly planning a lawsuit against CEO Sean "P. Diddy" Combs over unpaid royalties. "This is not personal against Puff [Combs]," said Lord Finesse of D.I.T.C. fame, "This is just a royalty and publishing situation."
Producers such as Clark Kent, Easy Moe Bee and Buckwild claim they haven’t received publishing royalties in about ten years. There’s no word on how much damages the artists will seek, but individuals involved claim they are owed for writing or producing "Whoa!," "I Love the Dough," "Flava In Ya Ear," "Warning," "Get Down," "I Need a Girl," "Been Around the World," "Missing You," "Born Again," and many other songs.
Bad Boy Records has yet to respond to the accusations. The label released "Notorious B.I.G. Duets" through Atlantic Records this Fall. The album peaked at #3 earlier this month and is #8 on the Billboard Top 200.
