Nas and Jay Z Speak To Sway Calloway

Friday, February 10, 2006
By: John Kennedy

Nas & jay ZJay-Z and Nas’ first interview together will air on MTV News’ “All Eyes On” series, with Sway Calloway hosting the sit-down.

In the interview, which will air Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at 11 p.m. EST, Jay and Nas will reflect on the years of battle, why they decided to make peace and future plans for the two.

“It’s bigger than both of us,” Jay-Z tells Sway, according to an MTV press release. “It’s more about the culture, about showing people another way, because [the battle we staged] was something that stopped the world. Now everyone emulates the battle … So now we have to show them another way.”

Snippets of the interview will air on Direct Effect, TRL and MTV Overdrive in them forthcoming week.

That's what's up now i can see how the really act with each other. A double album wit them would be kinda iffy cuz they both have different styles but i would love to hear them on a track together.

Jay ans nas is going to be the 2006 trendsetters, which is a very good thing! it's gonna be like nelly with that grillz song now everyone who don't have want one some real. All it takes is for two of the best to make a change in hip hop actually put hip hop back where it was at! history repeating itself that's all! jay and nas do that.........holla

So y'all startin' to see what i've been talkin' about since the blueprint dropped. Rap hit it's peak and started gettin' repetitive and boring so what happens? rappers go back to the albums that inspired them to rap from back in the day. First jay and kanye get the blueprint done that way, then (oddly) missy dropped that under construction album that was so ol' skool, then kanye works with people like slum village and dilated peoples, who would've thought black eyed peas would be so hot after all these years they weren't selling over here. Sometimes you have to move back just to move forward ya know? "y'all all are faggots/you takin' us backwards/i'm tryna progress with this rap sh*t/n*gga ya whole career's an accident/who was gassin' him?/F*ck outta here"- jay-z

I have been waiting for this moment for the longest, i've even mentioned this in a song i made called why not, another version of the why song that jadakiss made, in that song i said why wont nas and jay z do a song together, so basically i guest one can say my words are coming to life so to speak, this is a good thing for hip hop, the game really needs this, i've always been a jay z fan, but im an even bigger nas fan, so for me this is like a dream come true, i cant wait to see that interveiw, but on another note, my song(why not) can be heard on my mixtape (hp underground vol:1) holla at ya boy if you would like to check it out, ericyoung. Jay and nas. This is soo sick. I mean in an age when the world needs to see that peace is the bomb ( no pun intented). I think that this is a great image for hip hop.

I'm sorry but i've never been a fan of jay. I don't care what he thinks he's done thatz so groundbreaking. He should thank biggie in heaven everychance he gets! people in kansas city say biggie still the kony. (king of new york) more like the king kong of new york, that guy was really phenomenal. I used to be a nas fan but i'm not understanding him now. In these streets you don't F*ck with no n*gga that dishonors you no matter what he got to offer. My jay-z diss song reads: "god don't like ugly/you're "so ugly"/like the track you recorded about carmen/you ain't charming and look soft like charmin/say the flow's caviar/to me it's top ramen." all he did in new jersey and philly was try to save face. He's not making no type of history for nobody but those who think he is this god! i'm no jayhova's witness!

The best rappers are the older one's! these teen rappers & early twenties cannot rap for sh*t!

Oh please its gonna be a flop

Ya'll playerhaters need to grow up,there's more to hiphop than beef and yo violent by design, stop criticizing the real ish you damn faggot.all i gotta say iz my man nas be holdin it down!!!one love, the world is your's,god's son, bravherat to the graveyard!!!

I'll bet this evenwhenilie dude ain't even got an album out. I'm so sick of older dudes and their biased opinions about younger ones. Some guys who are older that ain't had kids or don't take care of their own (like some of these rappin idiots) ain't sh*t either. I can rap goddamn it! and my music sounds like some sh*t anybody any age can relate to cause it's versatile. Let's hear it for the real losers! i'll come to any n*ggas town and perform and i'll bet n*ggas will feel me.
Posted by DocV
I cant wait to see this tomorrow night just to see what they have to say for themselves. Not what other people got to say about it.
Posted by crownheightsfinest38
Tebogo, don't let that n*gga get to you. That's wat he does, runs through these pages and tries to urk n*ggas. If you don't pay um no mind, maybe he'll go away. Hey docv, never heard of ya. Anyways, i can't wait for nas to put on them boots and stomp.
Posted by ItWasWritten
Docv, that was corny! you sound too stupid to rap! and with no real life experiences, who the F*ck is going to feel you; you better get a ghost writer!
Posted by evenwhenIlie
These guys coming together is better than killing each other, not like it was ever at that level....great battle..... .thegmanifesto

D 2 biggest n*ggaz after 2pac and biggie is nas and jay z n*ggaz in hood wanna be like then but they can not be like then they have brought maturity in the rap sh*t they've changed the game but some talented infant like 50cent wanna try and b like nas but he will die tryin

Thats awesome that two high profile hip artist that were so called beefing are now working together for themselves and also showing the black world that we can work together no matter about the past fueds. Hispanics, asians and other minority groups can't be the only ones who can network and make a living together without looking out the corner of their eye. Keep it up black people and i'll be joining up right along with ya. God bless our businesses and the decisions we make. Julian s.
