Hot Boyz Reunion All Star Weekend
Wednesday, February 15, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Original Hot Boyz Mannie Fresh, Juvenile and B.G. will reunite in Houston this weekend during the NBA All Star celebration. All three will appear at Club Blue Friday night as B.G. and Mannie Fresh perform the rapper’s new single "Move Around." Doors open at 930PM, with the show scheduled for 130AM at 8412 South Gessner in Houston, TX. B.G. left Cash Money Records in 2002, claiming he wasn’t being paid fairly by label heads Brian "Baby" and Ronald "Slim" Williams. Juvenile departed in 2001 for similar reasons.
Former lead producer Mannie Fresh parted ways with the Universal distributed outfit in August because of creative differences. In a recent interview with XXL magazine Fresh said the label tried to persuade him to make his solo debut, The Mind of Mannie Fresh, more street oriented. "It’s a struggle for somebody to say, ‘we really don’t want you to do this because it’s really not our image,’" he said. "If you ask me to do something solo, then it’s my image. It’s me."
B.G.’s Mannie Fresh produced "Move Around" has reportedly been added to 57 radio station’s playlists this week, including 36 urban stations. The record has enjoyed over 527 spins, an increase of 177 compared to last week. B.G. will release The Heart of Tha Streetz Vol. 2: I Am What I Am through Chopper City Records/Koch later this year.
