Lil Kim out of prison by summer, says lawyer

Although Lil Kim is currently in prison for perjury, she is preparing to be released by the summer at the latest, according to her lawyer Mel Sachs.
Kim (born Kimberly Jones) began serving a 366-day sentence in September, and is allegedly getting ready to leave the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center in only a few months.
“A year and a day is actually less than a one-year sentence because, under the federal rules and the federal sentencing system, if there’s an extra day, you get time credited to you,” Sachs explained. “So Kim will be out in late spring or early summer.”
Kim recently revealed the trauma of being behind bars in a personal letter to former model Tyra Banks, which was read on Banks’ talk show last week.
“No matter how good I am in here, this is no place for women to be – or anyone for that matter,” Kim wrote. “It has its trying times and stressful moments – it’s very unsanitary – and can be very depressing, especially around the holidays.”
“For the most part, all the girls on my [cell] block are cool; being away from your family and loved ones is the worst part of being locked up,” concluded Kim.
Lil Kim was jailed after admitting that she lied to a grand jury in an investigation of a shooting outside New York’s Hot 97 radio station in 2001.
