DJ Cipha Replaces DJ Clue as New Face on MTV

Former Hot 97 DJ Cipha Sounds becomes the new host of MTV’s hip hop video show ‘Direct Effect’ this Monday. "I always wanted to be on
MTV," admitted Cipha Sounds. "I have street cred, as you could call it, as a hip-hop DJ because I play the real music, but I always had a funny edge to me. I'm not like a grimy mix-tape DJ." Almost nine years of experience includes time as a member of Funkmaster Flex’s "Big Dog Pitbulls" DJ crew, an on-air position at Hot 97, and host of a Sirius Satellite Radio show.

"Two years being a personality did more for me than seven years Djing," said Cipha Sounds. In 2002 he hosted the third installment of Rawkus Records’ critically acclaimed Sound Bombing compilation series. That same year Cipha Sounds made a cameo in Spike Lee’s film, ‘25th Hour.’ His only television experience is a stint as the in house DJ for ‘Chappelle’s Show.’ ‘Direct Effect’ airs daily on MTV at 7pm.

New York City’s top rated urban radio station, Power 105.1, today announced that "The World Famous" DJ Clue has joined its’ on air staff. The station’s Program Director Nate Bell looks forward to Clue using his vast experience and talents to raise
the 6-10pm slot "to the next level." New Yorkers must tune in for 105.1’s specific clues regarding the Roc-A-Fella artist’s exact date of arrival. "Nate knows that I try to be the voice of the streets," said Clue. "From wherever I am to wherever I go, people are always feeling what I’m feeling."

Clue worked as an MTV VJ on the show Direct Effect for the last few years. Along with his extensive street and major retail mix tape releases (The Professional 1 &2) Clue is the CEO of Desert Storm Records, which houses Fabolous and Joe Budden. Clue recently put his re-mix touch on Mariah Carey’s "We Belong Together" and plans to release The Professional III this Spring, featuring The Game, Fabolous, Faith Evans, Snoop Dogg, Nas, MOP, Mobb Deep, Jagged Edge, Mario Winans, Beanie Sigel, Styles, and Jadakiss among others. DJ Clue is a former employee of Power 105.1 rival Hot 97, which recently lost the services of DJ Cipha Sounds, who takes over Clue’s MTV gig this Monday.
