Stones Throw & Adult Swim Prepping Compilation LP
Friday, April 14, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Adult Swim has teamed with Stones Throw Records to release the label’s 10th anniversary compilation album in September featuring its’ top acts. Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf sees last year’s Adult Swim/Epitaph Records release, DANGERDOOM: The Mouse and the Mask, as proof of the company’s ability to sell "progressive" material to a loyal fan base.
Music by MF Doom (of ‘DangerDoom’), Madlib, his five piece band Yesterdays New Quintet, Dudley Perkins, M.E.D., the late J Dilla, and others is scheduled to appear on the still untitled project. "Stones Throw produces consistently original, globally acclaimed music," said Jason DeMarco, head of music for Adult Swim and executive producer of DANGERDOOM.
Peanut Butter Wolf will executive produce the 10th anniversary album. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. debuted Adult Swim in 2001 to offer original and acquired animated comedy for adults. Adult Swim shares channel space with Cartoon Network, airing programs such as "Family Guy," "The Boondocks," "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "Robot Chicken," and "InuYasha."
