Juvenile Plans on Re-releasing ‘Reality Check’ Album
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Juvenile, whose album Reality Check has already gone gold, hopes to refocus the country’s attention on New Orleans’ hurricane victims by re-releasing his LP with additional material.
Last August, Juve was preparing to drop his seventh album when Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, ravaging not only his hometown, but also his newly built house along the way. The 31-year-old rapper delayed the LP’s release and recorded new tracks, including his first single “Get Ya Hustle On,” to address the hurricane victims and the government’s slow response to the disaster.
"We’re mad, we’re real angry about it," he says, living in Atlanta while his house is being rebuilt. "But you know, it's like being in lock and chain: You can't do nothing about it. All you can do is talk about it and try and do as much press as possible."
“That’s how I like to do it. There’s so much more to talk about, so much controversy surrounding me and my city and what’s going on right now. What I’m trying to do is give my people the lift they need to come back home.”
