UGK’s Pimp C’s Car Totaled by Fleeing Gang Members
Friday, April 21, 2006 By: Steven D. Gayle
Recently liberated UGK member Pimp C was treated for a few minor injuries following a car accident while leaving the set for his new video “Pourin’ Up.” Pimp C and a security guard for Rap-A-Lot left in a silver Bentley while rapper Mike Jones, who is featured in the video, followed in his black Bentley.
Sources say that about a mile away from the set, two groups of people were involved in an altercation. One group began firing shots at the other and the police escorting C, Jones, and their associates began to pursue the shooters. The assailants drove through the surrounding neighborhoods and eventually ran a red light crossing in the path of the Texas rapper. Pimp C was treated and released but the security guard riding with him is still in the hospital though expected to make a full recovery.
One of the producers on the set, Keisha Hunter cleared up rumors that C had been a target in the incident or even had been shot and simply stated he was a victim of circumstance, “It is truly unfortunate that these gentleman were innocent bystanders that happened to drive through the wrong place at the wrong time," she stated. "The local residents that were shooting at one another were all apprehended and the Port Arthur police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the motivation for them shooting at one another. At no time was Pimp C nor Mike Jones the targets of the shots that were fired and at no time were any of them injured by the gunfire that was more than a block ahead of them."
Three alleged gang members were apprehended in connection to the case."The accident was crazy," said rapper Mike Jones. "I seen it first hand I'm just glad that everyone is OK."
Pimp C’s album titled, “Pimpilation” is set for a June 13 release date.
