The Black Eyed Peas to Play South Africa
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Hip Hop group The Black Eyed Peas will on May 28 host The Peapod Benefit Concert at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. "Two years ago we played to commemorate 10 Years of Freedom in South Africa and I made a promise that we would return to give a free show for the people who may never have the chance to get down and celebrate with The Black Eyed Peas, in the true spirit of The Peapod," said front man Will.I.Am.
South African dancers and performers will also participate in the show, which is sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft. Proceeds from The Pea Pod concert will be donated to unspecified local charities. Fans can check local newspapers and township outlets for tickets. MGD has made it possible for fans to also obtain tickets by texting their names to 40410. Proceeds from the cell phone charges go to The Black Eyed Peas’ Adopt-A-School program. Next month’s concert will be the first major event organized through The Peapod Foundation.
