“The SMACK Movement” to Launch This Summer

The SMACK DVD Magazine series is broadening its horizons this summer, with plans for an album, print publication and online magazine.

“The SMACK Movement,” as the expansion has been dubbed, will kick off with S.M.A.C.K. The Album: Volume 1, a full-length CD that will include new material from DMX, B.G., Juvenile, Maino and even a Def Squad reunion track with Redman, Eric Sermon & Keith Murray. The album will be paired with the latest installment of the SMACK DVD magazine, which will feature its standard freestyles, battles and interviews, as well as videos for every artist featured on the audio CD.

SMACK’s print and online magazines are looking to become sources for the latest news, gossip, lifestyle trends and beef. According to the SMACK DVD MySpace page, the photographic and artistic direction of the magazines will pay homage to the streets.

In addition, documentaries and feature films will emerge from SMACK Films and SMACK TV is creating trailers, treatments and concepts for development on all broadcast outlets.

The SMACK DVD series’ growth began with last summer’s distribution deal between SMACK White Entertainment, which produces the SMACK DVD Magazine, and Koch Records, a leading independent record label in North America.

Since its debut in 2002, SMACK DVD Magazine has released 10 issues and sold 750,000 copies with no major label support.

S.M.A.C.K. The Album: Volume 1, along with the newest installment of SMACK DVD Magazine, is slated for a June 6 release. The online and print publications are expected for a summer 2006 launch.
