50 Cent awarded ASCAP’s ‘Songwriter of the Year’

A lot of people dont understand what 50 means when he says that. When people hate on 50 it drives him to be that much better of a songwriter and i think we should all adopt that attitude thats the only way to survive to turn that negative energy into a positive motivational drive. I m glad that the entire industry by giving 50 this award has implicitly agreed that game didnt write those hits it was 50. You gotta read between the lines.

50 does make hot songs, on the low i think he is a comedian. Cat says some funny shyt like on "whoop ya' head"...creative.

Congrats to 50 for the award, he is talented. Im still looking forward to hearing more meaningfull lyrics from him but as far as good songs that just easy to groove to, he got that on lock. When he gets to that point in his life where he sees the need for his music to give more to the people i think he will be the emcee everybody expected him to be.

On point sair, but you can only write about what you know, and what you have. It is one of the staples of hip hop/rap. Abstract lyrics died in 97 with the jiggy era. Even commonsense rhymes about poppin nines now. Where did she go, hip hop. . . .she's dead.

Ha ha ha ha ha 50 got everyone fooled. That's cool though. If your talent is fooling others into believing you got talent where you don't, then work it. Imo 50's real talent lies in picking hot beats(that other people made), popping his name on lyrics(that other people mostly made), and putting his face on the album. He's the best promoter hip hop has ever seen. If he can get yayo's sh*t on the radio, the man has promotional talent. This writing award just makes me laugh. It proves it is possible to fool most of the people all of the time.

Does 50 cent know anything about music? i mean, does he know anything about music theory, how to write music, at least the names of the notes? i really doubt about it. Believe me, you would be surprised if you knew how little singers write their music themselves! not even half of them do. There is almost always somebody behind the beats you hear, somebody who has at least some musical knowledge. Besides, i think that to be awarded as the best songwriter of the year, it takes more than to sell millions of album copies. There must be a certain musical value in the songwriter's songs.

Isn't it great when a musician/entertainer get's a published work with the lyric "so n*ggas betta get up outta mine" but sum mutha cracka. He'a a n*gga, right, boy! (i also recite rap lyrics in public. The best one is no-cent's "rap game"--"i'm a disruptive n*gga." i recite that lyric all the time in public.
