50 Cent makes Forbes’ Celebrity Power List
Monday, June 19, 2006 By: Kenny Rodriguez
G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent made Forbes’ annual “Celebrity 100 Power List,” making him the only hip-hop artist on this year’s countdown.
50, born Curtis Jackson, captured eighth place on the annual list that ranks the highest paid celebrities based on their earnings and reputable buzz.
Aside from his album sales, amounting over 20 million to date, the Queens-born rapper was also recognized for his top-selling ringtones, G-Unit clothing line, and semi-biographical film “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.”
“It’s what kind of currency does the star’s name have,” said Forbes editor Lea Goldman.
“It’s increasingly important how they are perceived both in industry circles and commercial circles, and this list represents who has cachet in both arenas.”
Other notable celebrities who made Forbes’ list include Tom Cruise (#1), Oprah Winfrey (#3), and Steven Spielberg (#6).
