J Dilla Final Works Completed

Monday, June 26, 2006
By: John Kennedy

J DillaLate hip-hop producer J Dilla will have his second solo CD, The Shining, finished by artists with whom he has frequently collaborated.

The project was near completion when J Dilla died Feb. 10 of lupus. It will feature appearances by Busta Rhymes, Common, Pharoahe Monch and Madlib, among others. J Dilla’s longtime friend and collaborator Karriem Riggins is executive producing the album.

"All the artists that contributed to this project Dilla considered family," said Riggins. "And when the world hears it, they will see that the love bleeds through the music."

The Shining, which is slated for an Aug. 22 release date via BBE, will be the follow-up to J Dilla's 2001 solo debut Welcome 2 Detroit. Another album, Jay Love Japan (Operation Unknown)," will also be released later this year.

Man,this needs to be addressed. Aint it odd that when an artist dies/gets killed, then they put out all his shyt? it aint like the dude was a rookie in the game. Now that hes out of the picture they (businessmen) are taking his shyt and basically making deals to make money that dilla wont see (obviously). You see the same thing with big, pac, easy e, and pun. Crazy. Maybe its just me. .....thats robbery to me.
