Tyrese Gibson Taking On New Role
Tuesday, July 18, 2006 By: Melanie J Cornish
Having tackled the world of R&B and Hollywood, Tyrese Gibson is taking on a new role; that of rapper. Stepping into the world of beats and rhymes as Black Ty he has already garnered attention from some of the more established artists in Hip-Hop today, many of whom we can expect to see on his forthcoming album Alter Ego.
Co-star of recent movie release Waist Deep, The Game has already added his name to four of Black Ty’s tracks. “He’s been successful on every scale from singing to acting, so what would make anyone think that he couldn’t do rap?” remarked The Game who has shown the aspiring rapper a lot of love.
When asked about the involvement of super-manager Chris Lighty from Violator management which represents Busta Rhymes, G-Unit and Missy Elliot, Black Ty could only say “Chris Lighty is a part of the movement.” It has been confirmed that Lighty will help launch the career of Black Ty, confident that the rapper is destined to become a common element of Hip-Hop.
Having already put out one mixtape that was welcomed by the streets, The Best of Both Hoodz, he has another expected to drop in August called Ghetto Royalty, building up to the release of Alter Ego in the final quarter. The album will come out on his own label Headquarter Entertainment, an imprint of J Records.
“You know you only get one shot, you know people may not be speaking my name next week so I am going to go ahead and ride this out,” said Tyrese on his double album, which will be half R&B and half Rap. “I am in a lot of different worlds so I am always going to be doing something,” he stated.
His company Headquarter Entertainment has been classified as a ‘multi-media’ company which encompasses many facets of the entertainment world; including screen-writing, movie soundtracks, music production, song writing and artist development.
