NBA Star Ron Artest Opening for Fat Joe in Europe
Friday, July 21, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Former NBA Defensive Player of the Year Ron Artest is slated to kick off a string of Fat Joe’s European tour dates this summer, premiering material from his forthcoming solo album ‘My World.’
The bruising forward, suspended for seventy three games in 2004 (remainder of NBA season), plus post-season play, for his involvement in a fan/player brawl in Detroit, opens a show in Lisbon Portugal July 28; then on to Germany, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Norway and Denmark.
‘My World,’ Artests’ debut Hip Hop album, is due October 24 and, like his live mic skills, will receive international exposure. The project is being released via Lightyear Entertainment and distributed in the U.S. by WEA, in Canada by Koch, in Japan by JVC, and by unnamed independent distributors in Europe and other regions.
Since venting his desire to break from pro hoops and explore the music industry in 2004 Artest, this summer, has set the stage for Young Jeezy and performed at the pre-event festivities for Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam in June. Artest will feature Mike Jones, girl group Allure, Challace, Ruc, and Braska on ‘My World.’
