Scarface Video Game Enlists Hip-Hop Cast
Monday, July 31, 2006 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Sierra/Vivendi Universal’s “Scarface” video game, based on the classic 1983 film starring Al Pacino, has enlisted an array of celebrities for its voice cast including several notable rappers.
“Scarface: The World Is Yours,” based on the rise and fall of fictional drug-lord Tony Montana, features the voices of Ice T, Cypress Hill’s B. Real and Sen Dog, Noreaga, Richard Roundtree, Cree Summer, and Anthony Anderson.
Since its debut, the Brian De Palma film has been highly touted in hip-hop – sampled and quoted by the Notorious BIG, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, Ice Cube, and Cormega to name a few.
Its drug-related, rags-to-riches motif has also influenced classic recordings by Nas (“The World Is Yours”), The LOX (“Money, Power, Respect”), and Scarface (“Mr. Scarface”).
“The World Is Yours” video game is expected to ship this fall for Playstation 2, Xbox 360, and Windows PC consoles.
