Juggaknots Preps Sophomore Album
Thursday, August 10, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Bronx group Juggaknots has experienced a unique Hip Hop journey on the way to prepping their sophomore album 'Use Your Confusion',' due October 31 via Amalgam Entertainment.
The group's debut EP, 'Clear Blue Skies', was released by DJ/columnist Bobbito Garcia's (of 'The Stretch Armstrong/ Bobitto Show') Fondle Em Records in 1996 after Juggaknots left East West Records (now Elektra). It was re-released in 2003 to rave reviews, but brothers Buddy Slim, Breeze Brewin decided to take on teaching full time in the Bronx school system.
Breeze was propelled to action when, as he walked by a school during an evacuation, he noticed the lack of teachers supervising students. Breeze and Buddy are focused on music now, however, and theyve recruited younger sister Queen Herawin for 'Use Your Confusion'. The album also features veteran emcees Slick Rick and Brand Nubian as well as Wordsworth, Rob-O and long time associate J-Treds. Production duties are handled by Breeze, J-Zone, Oh No, and B-Money (who produced 50 Cent's "Hustlaz Ambition").
Brothers Breeze and Slim arrived in the early nineties, Slim producing R&B tracks for Father MC. They appeared as the Juggaknots for the first time on the 'Jason's Lyric' soundtrack in 1994, alongside celebrated blues singer Buddy Guy. The duo also collaborated with Company Flow, credited as Indelible MCs on Rawkus Records' first volume of 'Lyricist Lounge' (1998). Breeze played the lead role of "Tariq" on Prince Paul's 1999 Tommy Boy release 'A Prince Among Thieves'.
