Man Claims Three 6 Mafia Incited Beat Down
Tuesday, September 5, 2006 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Three 6 Mafia asked for the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a man who claims he was severely beaten at a concert when fans followed lyrics to their boisterous song “Let’s Start A Riot.”
Ramone Williams alleges he was beaten during a Pittsburgh concert on Aug. 26, 2003, when the song came on – which includes the lyrics “Let’s start a motherf*cking riot in this bitch / Let’s start a motherf*cking riot in this hoe!”
Williams, who was 19 at the time, says he was thrown to the floor, hit with a chair, stomped on, and kicked in the face. His injuries included a fractured jaw.
Williams has already won a default judgment against the night club that hosted the concert. The Pittsburgh club has since closed down.
An attorney for Three 6 Mafia filed a motion last week in Allegheny County Court saying that there is no “genuine issue of material fact” to the complaint, and insisting that the song lyrics are protected under the First Amendment.
